About James Waterhouse

James has worked with ensembles including the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Monteverdi Choir

James graduated with first class honours from the prestigious Tonmeister degree at the University of Surrey. After winning two scholarships for music performance playing jazz piano, James had an industrial placement year at Floating Earth, where he learned his trade from engineer Mike Hatch.

 

James has worked with ensembles including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Monteverdi Choir and Orchestra, Tenebrae and The Sixteen. As part of his role at Floating Earth, James edited and mastered releases for Signum Classics, developing a keen interest in music editing. James also worked as a technical engineer at the BRIT awards 2018 and 2019, while gaining more experience in outside broadcast with the BBC, Red TX, the Mixbus and Spiritland.

 

During his time at K&A Productions, James edited and mastered releases for Naxos. As a freelancer, James's work covers a wide range of activities including editing music for Delphian Records  and sound supervising livestreams from Wigmore Hall. James has also designed and built recording systems for both these companies, in addition to carrying his own bespoke location recording rig.
